Emerging from the south of France, Septaria explores the existential connection between the universe and our own inner worlds on their debut album, Astar. Juxtaposing dreamy, introspective post-metal against groove-laden progressive metal, Astar is a twisting journey into the self.
Their second single, “Psyché”, strikes at the heart of the fundamental questions explored throughout Astar. Opening with a thoughtful, gentle melody, the track bursts into pummeling grooves overlaid with gauze. Moments of ambient reflection are pressed against razor-sharp riffs and agonized screams, never fully allowing the listener to become comfortable in their rage or their calm. Septaria embrace the atmospheres and textures of post-metal to full effect, building a charged emotional journey around the calculated heart of prog metal. “Psyché” is bruising and cathartic, a real-time reflection of psychological turmoil.
