Our Mission

Arts Tribune reports on the arts and entertainment industry as a global sector, from art to economics. We cover all artistic mediums and news that influences the industry, artists and patrons of the arts. Our editorial goal is to be a platform for sharing breaking news, arts criticism and stories on approaching the arts. We seek to shine a spotlight on creativity and share its significance to an international audience.

We believe that diversity is a strength. Our writing staff is a diverse collection of talented writers and journalists. We also publish stories from a diverse membership of contributors. Our audience is a diverse readership of artists and patrons from around the world. We are committed to including diversity within the organization and the content that we create.

Standards, Corrections & Disclosures

Arts Tribune will provide accurate reporting, sources and anonymity for sources when requested. Any errors in content will be fixed in a timely manner. Arts Tribune is owned by Art Bracket LLC.

History

Arts Tribune started out as ARTbracket.com in 2008.

The founder developed ARTbracket as a college student majoring in Theatre and English at St. Louis University (SLU). The Fine and Performing Arts (FPA) department listed activities from each discipline-theatre, music and studio art-on a callboard. It became apparent there was possibility for increased attendance between students from different academic studies. The founder created ARTbracket.com to help students discover opportunities in the arts.

In Fall 2007, the idea and prototype for ARTbracket was submitted as a final project in a Business and Professional Writing course.

The website launched September, 7th 2008 on Ning. Features included: profile pages, messaging, photos, videos, events and blog posts.

In 2009, ARTbracket featured a slideshow of member content and news articles on the homepage. The website included job listings, auditions, and classifieds.

In 2011, the founder began publishing original content. By 2012, content strategy expanded to include topics in business and innovation. ARTbracket reached its first 1 million visitors in 2014.

The last design focuses exclusively on visual art in order to help artists promote their creations. By 5/1/16, the website had 640 members, 6,440 images, 14, 310,000-page views, and 6,351,036 visitors from 231 countries. It has ranked 100,000 on Alexa.

In 2014 the founder created NEWSbracket to cover breaking news, especially the Michael Brown case.

In 2019 both website ideas were merged to create Arts Tribune.

Arts Tribune officially launched in January 2020.
