Victoria Clark Will Direct Kate Baldwin and Nicholas Christopher in Love Life for City Center Encores!
The Kurt Weill and Alan Jay Lerner musical will play a limited engagement in March 2025.
Tony nominee Kate Baldwin (Hello, Dolly!; Finian’s Rainbow) and Nicholas Christopher (Sweeney Todd, Jelly’s Last Jam) will star in the City Center Encores! production of the rarely-seen musical Love Life, which will play the famed New York venue March 26–30, 2025.
As previously reported, two-time Tony winner Victoria Clark will direct the limited engagement, which casts Baldwin as Susan Cooper and Christopher as Sam Cooper. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
The forthcoming production will also have choreography by JoAnn Hunter and music direction by Rob Berman. Casting for Love Life is by The Telsey Office.
Originally set for the 2019–2020
season but canceled due to the pandemic shutdown, this 1948
collaboration between Kurt Weill and Alan Jay Lerner
depicts over two centuries of American history through the eyes of a
family who never ages. The musical explores the intimate
aspects of a marriage through a juxtaposition of heartfelt scenes and
satirical vaudeville acts.
The 2020 staging was scheduled to feature Baldwin and Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, the latter recently announced for the world premiere of 3 Summers of Lincoln at La Jolla Playhouse.
The 2025 Encores! season also includes Urinetown, February 5–16, 2025; and The Wild Party, April 30–May 11, 2025.
