Patrick Dumas is a visual artist who creates works in several styles: painting, folk, urban art, figurative, cityscape, surrealist and symbolist. Many of his creations are also drawings. His work ranges from portraits to abstract art.
Un jour, tu passes la frontier is visually abstract and contains many different elements. Every component on canvas is connected in some way. In the bottom left corner there is a living fish whose tail is connected to a collection of strings, structures and other elements. What appears to keep all components within the art together is the human hand that is north, slight-right of the canvas. The strength of the hand is designed to keep all of the objects and subjects together in an abstract loop that spans many different structures.
One of the artist’s inspirations may have been to show humanity’s connection to the world and our responsibility to secure it.
One of the messages to take away from the art is that the hand is not presented as a dominant object; it suggests that living things and every component that makes up our world will have its experiences that will not directly involve humanity, but it concludes by suggesting that it does not take much for humans to help the world function more effectively by providing support.
