0:00during another one of Donald Trump’s uh
0:03pressers one of his little chats with
0:06reporters he had an exchange with a
0:09reporter that I think exposes a lot
0:12about his thinking and then also led to
0:15him
0:16insulting the reporter who is um Caitlyn
0:19Collins we have a bunch to look at we’ll
0:21start with that and then get into all
0:23things Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and
0:26the negotiations the talks between Trump
0:28and Putin in the segment if you
0:30appreciate the show please do click the
0:32Subscribe button let’s jump into this
0:33reporting and I’ll show you that clip
0:34that I referred to uh this is from The
0:36Washington Post Trump’s call with Putin
0:37alarms Europe and Ukraine the
0:39announcement of the Trump Putin call
0:41made no mention of Europe or of much of
0:44a Ukrainian role playing into fears that
0:46their interest will fall by the wayside
0:49obviously Trump
0:51finds uh Putin to be
0:54his his sort of Buddy SL Mentor I guess
0:59is how i’ word
1:00president Donald Trump’s phone call to
1:02Russian President Vladimir Putin on
1:04Wednesday has deeply rattled keev and
1:06its European Partners triggering long
1:08held fears that Ukraine could be
1:09excluded from the peace talks
1:11determining its own future and security
1:13as well as that of the rest of the
1:16continent and what’s weird is there is
1:19this
1:20this characteristic starting to develop
1:24of the Trump Putin discussions which is
1:28strangely icing out one of the two key
1:33players in this conflict as most people
1:36call it or as it should be properly
1:38described Russia’s brutal invasion of
1:41Ukraine Trump who spoke to Putin on
1:43Wednesday and then phoned Ukrainian
1:45President Vladimir zinsky to inform him
1:47of the call said that he and his Russian
1:48counterpart will soon try to meet in
1:50Saudi Arabia without the Ukrainian
1:52leader and what zalinsky came out and
1:54said publicly after this was that he’s
1:56not going to be a part of any peace deal
1:58if he’s not a part of the negotiations
1:59for it now if if a US president were
2:05calling with the Russian dictator the
2:09Russian president and saying listen
2:12you’re not getting anything We’re going
2:14to do blah blah blah blah blah Trump
2:15always said he could he would call and
2:16say got a settle was the way that he
2:18worded it and that would solve
2:19everything if that’s what was happening
2:21and Russia was just going to stop
2:22invading pull back and respect the sovy
2:26and the sovere the uh territorial
2:29Integrity I should say of Ukraine then
2:33that would be fine but that’s not what’s
2:35happening they’re talking about
2:36concessions they’re talking about more
2:38complicated peace deal and for Ukraine
2:39to not be a part of that seemingly for
2:42the time being and a meeting is being
2:43scheduled that wouldn’t have a Ukrainian
2:45spokesperson is very strange very very
2:48strange on that note here is a back and
2:51forth that Trump had with Caitlyn
2:52Collins and then we have much more sir
2:55on Ukraine when when Putin says that he
2:57really wants peace do you believe
2:59believe him yeah I do I believe he wants
3:01peace I believe that President Putin
3:03when I spoke to him yesterday I mean I
3:05know him very well yeah I think he wants
3:08peace I I think he would tell me if he
3:09didn’t I think I’d like to see peace do
3:13you trust president I believe that uh
3:16yeah I believe that he would like to see
3:18something happen I trust him on this
3:20subject okay I’m going to circle back to
3:22that but just hold in your mind Trump
3:24saying I think Putin would tell me if he
3:27didn’t want peace
3:30uh I think he’d like to see something
3:32happen I think it could have happened a
3:34long time ago I think Biden number one
3:36it shouldn’t have started but it did and
3:39now all those cities are knocked down
3:42like demolition sites all those
3:44beautiful golden towers are knocked down
3:46there’s nothing that to replace them but
3:48much more importantly you lost millions
3:50of people a lot of soldiers but you lost
3:52millions of people when they knock down
3:54those cities and they’re all laying down
3:56on the side they’re lying down just uh
3:59in ashes and all crumbled up concrete
4:02they they literally look like a
4:05worldclass demolition site and many of
4:08them almost all of them but many of them
4:12and this should have been done by Biden
4:13years ago this should have never been
4:15allowed to happen I know he’s a friend
4:17of yours but couldn’t Putin just
4:18withdraw his he’s a friend of CNN that’s
4:20why nobody wants your CNN anymore
4:22because they have no no cred so now
4:24taking it to a personal level with
4:25Caitlyn Collins with that
4:30but let me just let me put this in
4:31different terms okay um
4:35H
4:37imagine imagine
4:39you were friends with Hannibal Lector
4:42let’s use Hannibal in this analogy just
4:43because Trump likes him you know the
4:45historical figure Hannibal Lector and
4:49you Hannibal and your friend okay go out
4:54to dinner and then Hannibal eats your
4:56friend for dinner oh gosh
5:00that’s dang it you know a it’s bummer so
5:04then you say Hannibal ah
5:07stop you told me you weren’t going to
5:09eat him and he goes but that’s sort of
5:12my thing right I eat is that one I’ve
5:15never watched that movie but he’s a
5:17cannibal right he likes eating people
5:18Trump says that he would eat people for
5:20for dinner or whatever so I’m going off
5:21of Trump’s articulation of that story
5:23because I’ve never watched it the
5:24Silence of the cows or whatever and then
5:28you go out to dinner with with Hannibal
5:30again but before you say promise
5:33me you won’t eat
5:36me Hanny promise
5:39me
5:41and he promises you he won’t eat
5:46you then you go to dinner okay
5:50the wouldn’t you find that illogical cuz
5:53Hannibal elor’s thing is eating people
5:56apparently I think he’s like a serial
5:58killer who eats people
6:01and so why would you take his word when
6:04his
6:05thing is violating such agreements to
6:09eat you you know now we’re already
6:10getting kind of into the the connection
6:12to this analogy which is it is a
6:14profoundly ignorant thing to say to say
6:18why would Putin tell me he wants peace
6:21if he
6:22doesn’t that’s kind of Putin’s thing
6:26it’s kind of his thing to violate peace
6:28agreements invade countries
6:31aggression a big part of our national
6:34security
6:36apparatus is
6:38about preparing for and combating
6:40Russian military aggression because they
6:42they kind of do it a
6:43lot and so just because he told you he’s
6:46not going to eat you doesn’t mean you
6:48should believe him is my point and then
6:51listen to the very beginning of this too
6:52on Ukraine when when Putin says that he
6:55really wants peace do you believe him
6:57yeah I do I believe he wants peace I
6:59believe that pres all right and then
7:02imagine you believe Hannibal Lecter when
7:04he says he’s not going to eat you as
7:07he’s gnawing on your arm that’s how
7:10crazy we are cuz if Putin wanted
7:15peace he could get it right
7:17now right this second he could stop
7:20invading stop nibbling on my
7:23arm it’s the exact
7:26same how do no he doesn’t want he’s not
7:29stuck in a situation he’s not forced
7:33against his will to keep the invasion
7:35going this isn’t a two-sided war in the
7:38sense that if if Russia stopped invading
7:41Ukraine would invade it’s just him
7:43trying to take over territory that’s not
7:45his and so should there be talks sure if
7:48there’s a fair peace agreement that
7:50comes of it good we want this to
7:53stop but two things are important Trump
7:56being naive and played because he thinks
7:59if Putin goes I didn’t interfere in the
8:02election which Putin said and Trump said
8:03I don’t know why he would tell me that
8:04if he didn’t mean
8:06it and him
8:09saying I want peace even though I’m the
8:11one making the peace not
8:14happen that number one you should not be
8:17so ignorant and number
8:20two you can’t allow for a peace
8:23deal that sets up further aggression
8:28because again ‘s thing is he goes yeah
8:31sure we’ll we’ll do
8:33peace and then violates
8:38it moving forward uh here’s this you see
8:41one giant Summit with you xiin ping and
8:43Vladimir Putin yeah I could see that uh
8:46let things calm down a little bit you
8:47know when I left we had no Middle East
8:49problem we had no Russia going into
8:51Ukraine they never would have done it
8:53Putin never would have done it and I
8:55came back and we got like the whole
8:57world is blowing up so uh when we
9:01straighten it all out then I want to
9:02have one of the first meetings I want to
9:04have is with President CH of China
9:06President Putin of Russia and I want to
9:09say let’s cut our military budget in
9:12half and we can do
9:16that
9:19whoa what I haven’t heard that from
9:23Trump ever you want to cut the military
9:27budget in half
9:31and you think China and Russia will do
9:35that uh I know a lot of people on the
9:38left will go
9:40yes I’m thinking of one person who might
9:42go I told you we can work with Maga
9:45yes
9:47yes
9:49um I wouldn’t try I’m gonna be honest oh
9:52but oh but cut to the P I would not be
9:55that trustworthy of
9:58Doge picking and choosing what we cut
10:01out of the military budget let me just
10:03let me just put it that way and I
10:04wouldn’t trust China and Russia to in
10:08accordance with us cut our mil all of us
10:10cut our military budget in half but who
10:13knows Christopher Miller posted heg Seth
10:15in a clip that I’ll show you in a second
10:17wrongly stated today that over four
10:19years during Trump’s first term there
10:21was no Russian aggression this is false
10:23Russia did invade in 2014 but the war in
10:25eastern Ukraine’s dab didn’t end it
10:27continued until Russia’s 2022 invasion
10:29it was at a simmer with frequent deadly
10:31flare-ups but it was still a war on
10:33European soil no less and people were
10:35killed and fighting during Trump’s term
10:37I won’t list all of the many Russian
10:39attacks but gave one example there the
10:42point not being to say that the full
10:44scale rule War didn’t start under B it
10:46did it did but that people Miss history
10:51or choose partisanship over sort of a
10:54more thoughtful
10:56lens
10:57when they they ignore the longer thread
11:01here there’s kind of a
11:03multi-decade initiative playing out on
11:06Putin’s end and so when Trump uh brags
11:11about how the full scale Invasion didn’t
11:12happen until Biden that’s missing that
11:15the buildup to it and the seeds being
11:19planted and the military conflict that
11:21was beginning is a longer story than
11:23just 2022 here’s hexi uh you have
11:27focused on what Ukraine is giving up
11:29what concessions will Putin be asked to
11:32make um well that’s I would start by
11:36saying the the arguments that have been
11:39made that by the way I’m sorry we’re
11:40going to get back to the seriousness of
11:41this but can we just can we just really
11:44quickly one second you have focused on
11:46what Ukraine is just really listen for a
11:48second giving up what concessions will
11:50Putin be asked to
11:51make now see really quickly why can why
11:56can no one in the Maga world just drink
11:59water
11:59normally we don’t need
12:01[Music]
12:04a in our microphones okay or the Trump
12:07like can’t get the water water up thing
12:10just just spill it into your mouth and
12:16then um well that’s I would start by
12:20saying the the arguments that have been
12:22made that somehow um coming to the table
12:25right now is making concessions uh to
12:28Vladimir Putin outright that we
12:30otherwise or that the president of the
12:32United States shouldn’t otherwise make I
12:34just reject that at its face there’s a
12:37reason why negotiations are happening
12:40right now just a few weeks after
12:42president Trump was sworn into as
12:43president the United States Vladimir
12:46Putin responds to
12:48strength in 2014 he invaded Crimea not
12:52during the presidency of Donald Trump
12:55over four years there was no Russian
12:58aggression
12:59from 2016 to 2020 in
13:022022 Vladimir Putin took aggression on
13:04Ukraine once right so that’s just not a
13:07factual statement that last part is but
13:09not the there was no Russian aggression
13:11which again it’s a part of a broader
13:12story yet you’re not going to be able
13:15to solve the problem if you don’t
13:18understand it it’s a part of
13:20why I am so enthusiastically for the
13:26support for Ukraine is seeing the
13:28broader
13:29picture that’s being depicted here and
13:33if we always take the path of least
13:35resistance and always give Putin this
13:38much this much this much this
13:40much then we’re going to blink our
13:43eyes and we will have launched ourself
13:48into a much more catastrophic scenario
13:51then continue on the same topic here is
13:53Trump at the press conference with
13:57Modi when you look at Ukraine and when
13:59you look at the mess that they’re in uh
14:02it’s got to be ended and it’s got to be
14:04stopped now Russia’s taking over a
14:07pretty big chunk of
14:09territory uh and they also uh have said
14:13from day one long before President Putin
14:15they’ve said they cannot have Ukraine be
14:17in NATO they said that very strongly I
14:20actually think that that was the thing
14:21that c caused the start of the war and
14:24uh Biden said it and zalinsky said it
14:28and I think that was one of the reasons
14:30one of the starts of the war but from
14:32long before Putin they said you cannot
14:34have uh you cannot have Ukraine going in
14:38in any way into NATO and I start from
14:43that standpoint I think everybody knew
14:45that now if a better deal can be NE
14:47negotiated if uh they are able to make a
14:50deal where they can do that that’s fine
14:52with me I really don’t care I
14:54want you
14:56see is this good I thought he was the
14:58master
15:01negotiator but you don’t say yeah I I’ll
15:05I’ll totally concede on a on a big
15:08thing before you even start the
15:12negotiation what are you doing so I’m
15:15just assuming that we’re going to say
15:16Ukraine can never be in NATO I don’t
15:18know I’m just assuming but I mean if if
15:21Putin doesn’t want us to do that we
15:22could we could get something better
15:26but it’s like I used to say I I us to be
15:29terrible at negotiating cuz I would just
15:31want to tell the person up front like I
15:34hire someone listen here’s let me be
15:37honest with you before you lowball or
15:40high ball here’s the highest I think I
15:42could justify paying you wait why did I
15:44say that of course they’re going to pick
15:46that that’s what he’s doing and then
15:49remember that just because Putin says it
15:52doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a
15:55profound and repetitive effort to
15:59demonstrate how disingenuous that is
16:02Putin does not get to dictate which
16:05military alliances other countries are
16:07in that’s just not a power that he
16:11has it’s not a justification to invade
16:13and try to take over another country
16:15that you don’t like that they’re going
16:16to be in a defensive Alliance now you
16:18say but oh it threatens Russia because
16:20Ukraine’s on Russia’s border so if they
16:22were in NATO you could have NATO troops
16:23on Russia’s border there’s already NATO
16:26members on Russia’s border
16:29so that’s not accurate
16:32either oh but it would be closer to it
16:35is not in the
16:38world under the framework that the
16:42United States is supposed to stand for
16:44it is not acceptable for countries to
16:46invade and take over other countries
16:49because they don’t like which alliances
16:51that country is in or they feel
16:53threatened by it when there’s zero zero
16:57justification to believe what NATO’s
16:59going to invade
17:02Russia here is one little uh more silly
17:05moment where Trump can understand a
17:08reporter being raising anti-india voice
17:12calling about separation terrorism
17:14activities in India do you think that
17:16should continue here in the US as well
17:18you’re going to have to go
17:19louder uh Mr President people India
17:22would be welcoming your decision to
17:23extradite tab to I can’t understand a
17:26word he’s saying may I sir may
17:30I okay so that that’s how the press
17:33conference started didn’t go
17:36particularly well one bit of good news
17:39Medi saying that Hamas has agreed to
17:41resume freeing uh resume the freeing of
17:44hostages two days after Trump’s
17:46ultimatum Hamas announced it will
17:48proceed with the deal that was
17:50previously mediated the group had
17:53briefly delayed the latest exchange
17:55accusing Israel of violating the truth
17:57but now says it remains committed to car
17:58caring out the deal as agreed um and
18:01this is you know we just we want as I
18:04said previously for this deal to stand
18:06and for all the hostages to be returned
18:09mediators from Egypt and Qatar
18:11reportedly assured Hamas they would work
18:13to remove obstacles and fill gaps in the
18:15agreement and Trump had said that same
18:19ultimatum but what seems to be
18:21contributing to the complications is
18:24that separate from the deal and I’ve
18:26said before whatever role Trump played
18:28in
18:29credit or his mediator good to try to
18:33bring peace but but him out there
18:37shouting about taking over
18:40Gaza has to be complicating this
18:43scenario and is one of the more insane
18:47things you could do in such a delicate
18:48moment
18:50too I had some more Clips but uh I don’t
18:54think we have the time so let me let me
18:56leave it there and on the bonus show
