Three new Americana songs that connect with the past – Ear To The Ground Music

Talise – “Western Pine”
-Something about old time instruments provides a warmth to a sound that I especially appreciate. I can hear that sound with this new song from Talise. It has an understated quality to it that makes it stand out from the crowd. Any time I listen to a song that sounds like it would be at home in a Carter Family set, I’m definitely interested. I appreciate how Talise sings with a timeless style. The natural imagery of the western pine and the authenticity of the instrumentation makes this song feel quite genuine. We’re happy to support it here.

Admiral Radio – “Look Back and Learn”
-If you’re a fan of thoughtful singer songwriters, you’ll find a lot to love about this duo Admiral Radio. Both vocalists are really good, but together they are magnificent. The phrasing reminds me of what a classic folk duo is supposed to sound like. The lyrics highlight the need to look back on our lives and learn from the mistakes we’ve made; we shouldn’t look back with anger but with a humility to learn from our prior selves. It’s a wise, philosophical perspective. I find a lot of inspiration from this song and hope that others enjoy it as much as I do.

Two Runner – “Little Ones”
-If the name Two Runner seems familiar, it’s because we just featured them a week or so ago. This song is a similar piece of excellent songwriting from this rising folk duo Two Runner. There’s a certain jangle quotient that makes an Americana song great; it has to have some jangle to feel genuine, but too much jangle can feel contrived. This song has the perfect balance of jangle, vocal harmonies, and fiddle accent. It’s a sound that feels genuine, pulling the listener in with authentic vocals and great instrumental work. It’s an incredibly well balanced song about wanting to spend the evening and night with someone special. It’s charming, loving, and feels just right.
