Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Marlene @ReadingReality and is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, be they physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
This seemed like a great feature to jump onboard with to help me avoid my interminably long monthly posts of all that I’ve bought (and NOT read). So here goes!
As I put this post together before I disappeared there is always the danger that I booked hauled afterwards, but if I did, I’ll own up to that when I next post. Otherwise 5 titles is pretty frugal for me. That said it did include 4 new paperbacks so the budget was bound to suffer. If I’d just stuck to what I went to buy I’d have been laughing, but The Works paperback sale was one I couldn’t walk past. Still £11.50 is still pretty good and as always I’m very happy with what I added.

The Green Hills of Home by Emma Bennet (was Free now £1.99)
Shy Gwen Jones lives in the beautiful rolling hills of the Welsh countryside in a sweet little farmhouse that’s been in the family for generations.
She dreams of becoming a famous writer, but that sort of thing never happens to ordinary country girls.
Then Gwen lands a deal with a prestigious London publisher. Her new editor John comes to stay to work on her book. He’s aloof and pompous and thinks he knows everything, but he certainly is handsome . . .
Before long the pair can’t deny their mutual attraction. But cosmopolitan John never planned on getting distracted by pretty Welsh writers. And country girl Gwen has no plans to leave the green hills of home.
Then John suddenly ups and leaves, and Gwen’s book deal is cancelled. Did he ever really have feelings for her?
Gwen knows that if their love stands any chance, she’ll need to swallow her fears and write her own destiny.

Wild Eyes by Elsie Silver (£6)
A rugged mountain town seemed like the perfect escape from a life in shambles.
But on day one, she ran full tilt into the world’s hottest single dad, and now all her plans are ruined.
As a chart-topping country singer with a recent streak of bad press, it’s hard for Skylar Stone to find any peace. But she finds it in Rose Hill. With a little boy and a little girl who steal her heart just as thoroughly as their dad.
Weston Belmont.
The man is a shameless flirt. He oozes confidence and masculinity in a way that’s downright distracting. And in bed? He’s addictive.
Everything with him is wild and impulsive, and Skylar is desperate to regain some control.
But no one has supported her like West does. And no one has ever made her feel as loved as he does either.
So, while Skylar’s brain says settling down with a small-town horse trainer is impossible…her heart says she’s right where she belongs.
Still, her life as a celebrity haunts her. It has the power to pull she and West apart.
She can see in his eyes that he wants her to stay. And she wants that too.
But she knows better than anyone that you don’t always get what you want.
The Summer I Destroyed You by Elizabeth O’Roark (£2.50)
EMMY
Elliott Springs has small-town values, cobblestone streets, perfect scenery. These are things I don’t care about. What I do care about is . . . Revenge.
And no matter how compelling I find Liam Doherty-the guy focused on saving Elliott Springs-I’m going to get it.
LIAM
What do you call a woman who wants to destroy everything you love, yet the sight of her sets you on fire?
Nemesis or future wife . . . and since she can’t wait to leave California, I guess I know which one she is. Emerson Hughes wants to be the villain in our town’s history, and the more I learn about her past here, the more I understand it.
I wanted to save Elliott Springs.
I think I want to save her even more.
The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams (£1.50)
Bree Camden is helplessly (and secretly) in love with her longtime best friend and NFL legend, Nathan Donelson. And that’s the least of her problems. After a car accident ended her chance of becoming a ballerina, Bree now runs her own dance studio – if she can afford the rent to keep it open, that is.
When Nathan comes to the rescue and buys the entire building, a stubborn Bree is not happy about it. Rebelling with a couple – okay, maybe more than a couple – of tequila shots, she spills her deepest, darkest secret to a TMZ reporter. One viral video later, the world thinks Nathan and Bree are the perfect couple and Nathan’s publicist has an idea that could mean financial security for Bree.
The catch? They have to pretend to be in love. For three. whole. weeks.
Is now the moment for Bree to finally act on her hidden feelings?
And is it possible that Nathan has been hiding some of his own?
Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune (£1.50)
One day. One promise. Two lives changed.
Fern Brookbanks has wasted far too much of her adult life thinking about Will Baxter. She spent twenty-four hours in her early twenties with the aggravatingly attractive, idealistic artist – a chance encounter that spiralled into a daylong city adventure. The timing was wrong, but their connection was undeniable: they shared every secret, every dream, and made a pact to meet one year later. Fern showed up. Will didn’t.
At thirty-two, Fern’s life hasn’t turned out how she imagined it. She’s back home, running her mother’s lakeside resort, which is in disarray – and her ex-boyfriend is the manager. She needs a lifeline.
To Fern’s surprise, it comes in the form of Will, who arrives – nine years too late – with an offer to help. Will may be the only person who understands what Fern’s going through. Yet how can she possibly trust this expensive suit-wearing mirage who seems nothing like the young man she met all those years ago.
But ten years ago, Will Baxter rescued Fern. Can she do the same for him?
