Character development: 🤓😀😘🥰
The heroine: Danica – she owns a bakery in San Francisco which has been owned and operated by her family for generations. She lives in apartment above the bakery. When she was at culinary school in France, her mother was fighting cancer and took out a bunch of loans on the bakery to pay for medical bills. Her mother died over a year ago and Danica has been fighting a losing battle to pay the bills and keep the bakery open while bankers have been on her back all the way. Her friends signed her up for a dating site where she was matched with 3 men, so she decided to give it a try and go on a date.
The Heroes: Ethan, Dean & Logan – 3 former Navy SEALs who now run a successful private security firm. They live together, work together and like to share their women. While they were SEALs, their commander was dirty, the government betrayed them, and they all suffer from varying degrees of PTSD.
Ethan – he is career focused and the leader of their company. He if confident and likes it rough.
Dean – he is a gentle giant and a functional psychopath. He is the brawn of their operation.
Logan – he is always intense and deliberate and very intelligent. He sometimes dwells too much on his family issues. He is trying to find his deadbeat father who once framed Logan for a crime he committed and took off with his sister Kiera.
The Story: Danica goes out on a date, expecting it to be with only one of the three men the first time, but it is all three of them and the date ends up going exceptionally well. The guys visit her at her bakery the next morning and they end up becoming intimate when she takes some time off to be with them. Though they have some heavy days at work coming up, so won’t see her for a while. They planned their relationship with Danica to be a purely physical one, but from the start, see that she could possibly be so much more.
I liked this story it wasn’t just a smutfest and actually had some action and suspense. The guys had been regretting the way one of their missions in Columbia had gone when they were SEALs, actually it was their Dirty Commander who was working for a drug cartel and told the cartel who the informants were, leading to the brutal murder of the families of said informants. Now that Cartel was getting big again and was moving into California and the guys were worried that their past association would come back to haunt them and anyone close to them.
It was a good storyline and held my interest throughout the book. I am at a place now where I can barely stand the same old romance books with just romance and no real story, so I liked this one quite a bit. It seems harder to find reverse harem books with good storylines than others, since so much of the reverse harem genre is just the smuttiness of one girl with a bunch of guys.
