A new Ryan Murphy series titled The Beauty has been given a series order by FX.
Murphy is known for creating a number of television series throughout the past two decades, including Glee, American Horror Story, Feud, 9-1-1, Ratched, Monster, and more. The second season of Monster, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, premiered on Netflix earlier this month.
Per Deadline, FX has now given Murphy an 11-episode series order for a new show, The Beauty, which is expected to begin production this fall.
The series will star Evan Peters, who has worked with Murphy a number of times before, alongside Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope. Peters, Ramos, and Pope will also serve as executive producers.
What else do we know about Ryan Murphy’s The Beauty?
While plot details remain under wraps at this time, The Beauty is based on Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley’s comic book series, published by Image Comics, of the same name.
“Modern society is obsessed with outward beauty,” a description of the comic reads. “What if there was a way to guarantee you could become more and more beautiful every day? What if it was a sexually transmitted disease? In the world of The Beauty, physical perfection is only one sexual encounter away. The vast majority of the population has taken advantage of it, but Detectives Vaughn and Foster will soon discover it comes at a terrible cost. Now, they’ll have to find their way past corrupt poiticians, vengeful federal agents, and a terrifying mercenary out to collect the price on their heads.”
Murphy is co-creating, writing, and executive producing the television show alongside Matt Hodgson.
According to Deadline, the series will have both a male and female lead. “Search is underway for an actress to join Peters, Ramos, Pope, and Kutcher, so it’s possible that she and one of the four, likely Peters, could play Vaughn and Foster, respectively,” the article reads. “Kutcher is thought to be playing a tech billionaire.”
Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Nissa Diederich, and Eric Gitter will also serve as executive producers on The Beauty, which is produced by 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television.
