They fell for each other in just twenty-four hours. Now Rowan and Neil embark on a long-distance relationship during their first year of college in this romantic, dual points of view sequel to Today Tonight Tomorrow .
When longtime rivals Rowan Roth and Neil McNair confessed their feelings on the last day of senior year, they knew they’d only have a couple months together before they left for college. Now summer is over, and they’re determined to make their relationship work as they begin school in different states.
In Boston, Rowan is eager to be among other aspiring novelists, learning from a creative writing professor she adores. She’s just not sure why she suddenly can’t seem to find her voice.
In New York, Neil embraces the chaos of the city, clicking with a new friend group more easily than he anticipated. But when his past refuses to leave him alone, he doesn’t know how to handle his rapidly changing mental health—or how to talk about it with the girl he loves.
Over a year of late-night phone calls, weekend visits, and East Coast adventures, Rowan and Neil fall for each other again and again as they grapple with the uncertainty of their new lives. They’ve spent so many years at odds with each other—now that they’re finally on the same team, what does the future hold for them?

I ENJOYED…
☂️
- Past Present Future perfectly follows up Rowan and Neil’s adventures as they head off to college, right after the events of Today, Tonight, Tomorrow. I loved getting back with these characters I adored, these ex-academic rivals to now lovers. Told from both POV, both Rowan and Neil won my heart, yet again. They’re such endearing, heartwarming and highly relatable characters, I couldn’t help but feel for them, right from the very first pages.
- I absolutely loved how this book focused on Rowan’s journey as a writer. Something I definitely can relate, with, finding your rhythm, not feeling good enough, facing others and criticism and trying to find your voice and you, through writing, just as well. Rowan’s journey in college and her writing struggles just made me feel, deeply.
- Neil, on the other hand, was such an endearing incredible character, as well. As he heads off to college on his own, he struggles with fitting in, finding his place, changing his mind and figuring out what he really wants to do. It’s all a bit messy in his head and his struggles just feel so relatable. I adored the anxiety and depression rep in this book which, personally, felt really accurate.
- All in all, Past Present Future perfectly captures how it feels to head off to college and to feel a bit lost. It’s about this young adult part of life where everything feels up in the air, like…it’s exciting, because you can be anything, but also terrifying, because… you can be anything, really. I adore the fact that this book explores this journey, definitely a much needed one.
- While we’re on the topic of journey and change, we follow along Rowan and Neil’s long distance relationship as their lives changes…and they change, too. I loved the nice change of following a couple as they already fell in love and, just, maintain their relationship and try their best to fit in with each other, even as they’re changing as people, too. Absolutely loved that.
- One of my favorite things about this series is obviously the romance and the chemistry between Theo and Wren. They’re such great leads and every single one of their interactions has me rooting for them to figure things out and just, be together already. Love them!
