After this year’s film, ‘Willy’s Wonderland’ hit streaming platforms, the action star Nicolas Cage is once again busy filming. This time, it’s The Retirement Plan in the Cayman Islands which started shooting on Friday.
Deadline says that the film is written and will be directed by Tim J. Brown, whose credits include Productivity Media’s upcoming Buckley’s Chance starring Bill Nighy and the horror-thriller The Cradle starring Lukas Haas.
The storyline of The Retirement Plan focuses on the characters Ashley (Ashley Greene) and her young daughter Sarah (Thalia Campbell) who get caught up in a criminal enterprise that puts their lives at risk. Sarah turns to the one person that can help, her estranged father Matt, (Nicolas Cage) who is currently living the offbeat life of a classic retired beach bum in the Cayman Islands. Their reunion is fleeting as soon as they are tracked down by crime boss Donnie (Jackie Earle Hayley) and his lieutenant Bobo (Ron Perlman). As Ashley, Sarah, and Matt become quickly entangled in an increasingly dangerous situation, it’s discovered that her father had a secret past that she knew nothing about.
The film also stars Grace Byers (Empire) Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) NBA star turned actor Rick Fox (Shameless) and Lynn Whitfield (Madea’s Family Reunion)
No one expected a story quite as odd as this one!
