Attention Nicolas Cage fans! I am very pleased to announce that the new trailer/teaser for the new ‘meta-movie’ “Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” (Lionsgate) is finally here! The actual long-form film will be rolling into theaters this Spring on April 22, 2022! So be on the lookout for it! Very exciting news for all Nic Cage fans!
I don’t want to give too many spoilers away—real-life imitates art. I will tell you that it’s a film where the real Nicolas Cage plays an offbeat eccentric version of himself! I call it a tribute film and a role he was born to play!
The storyline is a fictionalized version of the iconic film star named Nick Cage with Cage playing himself; he is a down-on-his-luck actor who falls into debt and is looking for a comeback in his career. His agent gets an offer for Cage to attend a superfan billionaire druglord’s birthday party (Javi played by Pedro Pascal) for $1 million bucks. Cage was reluctant at first to accept the offer but decides to take it. Then mayhem ensues. That’s all I will say about it but judging from the trailer it looks hysterically funny! Tom Gormican directs and co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Etten.

Cage has said in interviews that “It wasn’t an easy film for him and it got exhausting playing the characters of himself and re-enacting his previous films.” He also stated that it was too difficult for him to sit in a theater and view it himself!
Neil Patrick Harris plays Cage’s agent, Tiffany Haddish (Vivienne), Lily Mo Sheen, (Addy) and a host of others round out the cast.
