The new trailer just released today for Nicolas Cage’s new revenge thriller film, Pig (Rated R- NEON/AI Films) dropped on YouTube. The film is directed by Michael Sarnoski and also stars Alex Wolff and Adam Arkin. Nicolas Cage stars in the film and serves as one of the producers through his production company Saturn Films. The storyline tells of a lonely truffle hunter named Rob who sports a gnarly large beard and looks very unstable (Nicolas Cage) living in the woods of Portland, Oregon whose only companion happens to be his prized pig.Â
When the pig gets kidnapped by some thugs—revenge ensues. The film was shot on location in Oregon in September 2019. They could have called the film, Swine or Hog but they stuck to the title Pig. EW.COM says the plot is like the character in a John Wick film with his companion dog— I tend to disagree and find that to be a ridiculous comparison. The film is a Nic Cage film—not a Keanu Reeves film! Some fans compare the film to Mandy but instead of Andrea Riseborough’s character that he’s trying to avenge the culprits, except it’s for a pig he is trying to win back! Other fans say it’s a Babe reboot but more intense; remember that pig movie? When I first viewed it today, the first thought that came to mind was ‘second Oscar buzz’ even though the film hasn’t hit theaters yet!
Cage won his first Oscar from Leaving Las Vegas in 1996. “Buy yourself a new pig,” Cage’s character Rob is advised. “Sorry, he can’t do that!” a few lines from the trailer quoted. “There’s nothing here for you anymore.” “I’m looking for a truffle pig…someone stole her,” Rob Cage’s character says in the trailer. “I remember every meal I ever cooked. I remember every person I ever served. You live your life for them, and they don’t even see you. You don’t even see yourself,” Cage says in the trailer. “We don’t get a lot of things to care about…who has my pig?” You mean to tell us Nic you have a love affair with Miss Piggy of the muppets! Haha! just joking! The ‘pig’ in the film is a female. The trailer doesn’t contain any spoilers of how the ‘swine’ got to be Nic’s character Rob’s pet…we’ll just have to be patient until the film is released in theaters on July 16!
