The great Naomi Osaka lost her tennis match Saturday, but that wasn’t the worst part of her day a rude heckler set off a chain of events that reduced the tennis star to tears. The ref would not let Naomi address this woman.
Naomi was playing Veronika Kudermetova at the Indian Wells Tourney outside Palm Springs, when a mean woman in the stands screamed, “Naomi, you suck!” The fans started screaming at the woman and rocked Naomi. The world is supporting a Russian woman Veronika Kudermetova and kicking a black woman, sure it was just one voice but it could be heard all through the stadium and Naomi did not recover from it.
She was losing 3-0 in the first set when she begged the ump to let her take the mic and talk to the audience, promising, “I just want to say something. I’m not going to curse. I don’t curse. It’s just weighing on my heart.”
Officials would not oblige but vowed to boot the heckler if she dared tried it again.
It was too late for Naomi … she lost the first set 6-0 and the second 6-4.
After losing, Naomi asked again, and this time she got the mic, telling the crowd, “To be honest, I’ve been heckled before. It didn’t really bother me. But heckled here, like, I’ve watched a video of Venus and Serena get heckled here, and if you’ve never watched it, you should watch it. The tennis match to which Naomi was referring was a low point in tennis. Back in 2001, Serena was booed after winning the tourney. She was supposed to play her sister, Venus, but she withdrew because of an injury. Fans thought the injury was fake and were merciless. Here is my take Naomi Osaka is a gift and we should celebrate her the tennis player is a Russian when you are a minority you are treated like dirt. This world sucks and racism is the biggest problem around the world. When you suffer from mental illness and some people have no Ideal what it takes to be a champion you are in the stands watching and it sucks that you screamed that out at her. It takes a lot to play at a top-level I wish Kobe was here to guide her through it. You are not going to be liked by everybody. She is my favorite player today.
The people are just not sensitive to other people’s pain. They think that you having money and being rich takes away from you being human. She has a feeling she is great and she will be back and on top. When you treat superstars this way you motivate them and they get tougher so now she can go into beast mode and lock everything out and move forward. The sport is not the same with black girls and boys are not in it. White supremacy just wants up to shut a dribble or serve the ball. This is a mental sport and to know that the world is against you it sucks. So here to you just do your best to enjoy the game and put on the best show you can and when some more big tournaments and train harder and put this pul behind you.
