Hartlepool indie rock trio Mt. Misery are preparing for the release of their sophomore album this November via Prefect Records and recently returned with their new single “Waking Up”, which was released on September 6th and follows the previously shared single “Lunch Break.”
The track was recorded in a remote cottage on the banks of Loch Fyne in Scotland and delivers a wonderful blend of jangle pop and dream-laden indie rock in the vein of Real Estate. The track combines a feeling of melancholy and sense of wonder, with a breezy dreamy nature that also features some high energy and vibrant qualities.
Speaking on “Waking Up”, Stephen from the band explains:
“Waking Up existed in very rough demo form for some time, but it was always an idea I couldn’t finish (of which there are many). I picked it up again when we were writing the album, but the full writing process took upwards of a year, with the result being a little two-and-a-half minute pop song… which upon reflection, feels a bit pathetic.“
Enjoy a listen now below, along with the jubulant and breezy “Lunch Break.”
