This movie will be epic and it will bring more interest in Africa and real stories of black history no more lies black people did not start with slavery we were kings and queens from a great nation. Thanks, Chad for seeing how black people should be portrayed all around the world. The reaction videos are amazing. Chadwick had a real effect on the world.
I can look at this and tell this film was done with care because of the great Chadwick Bosman. God knows his star was bright. He was like a comet in the evening sky for real not winning the Oscar still hurts and it is sad on so many levels but God has shined a great light on his life and he will inspire actors from here to eternity. So here we are with the trailer and it is so sad on so many levels. But light will shine when black people all show up to pay respect for a man who was just great.
Alright” is a track off of Lamar’s 2015 Grammy-winning album To Pimp A Butterfly, and rings as an anthem of hope and strength in solidarity. Mixed into “Prologue” it starts as a mantra and becomes a statement. The inclusion of Lamar on the track could indicate that the singer may be returning to produce Wakanda Forever‘s soundtrack after his work on the Black Panther: The Album soundtrack. The album was produced by Lamar, who also performed on it, and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. After its release, the soundtrack topped the Billboard 200, featuring a number of artists including Babes Wodumo, Saudi, Future, Travis Scott, Jorja Smith, SZA, and The Weeknd. In a parallel to the film, each song told a story and held different perspectives, providing a duality like that of the two rivaling Black Panthers, King T’Challa and Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan).
The singer for the film’s rendition of “No Woman, No Cry” is the Nigerian songwriter, singer, and producer known professionally as Tems (Temilade Openiyi). Most recently this young mogul featured on WizKid‘s “Made in Lagos,” and then on Drake‘s “Fountains,” before releasing her own original EP “If Orange Was a Place” and snagging a record label deal with Sony’s RCA and Since ‘93. With her own hands in production, it would be fitting for Tems to take the reins on Wakanda Forever, as the women of Wakanda will do in the wake of T’Challa’s passing.
Joining Nyong’o, Wright, and Bassett in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, and Florence Kasumba as Ayo.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will premiere on November 11. As of right now, there is no word on who else will be featured on the soundtrack, nor who will be producing. “Wakanda Forever Prologue” will be released on July 25.
Marvel Studios ended its long-awaited return to San Diego Comic-Con with a big splash, giving fans their first look at the trailer for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
The emotional footage shows the cast of “Black Panther” coping with the reality of a world without Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa. Set to a rendition of Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry,” fans get to check in with returning favorites like Lupita Nyong’o and Letitia Wright while also meeting some exciting new characters. As has long been rumored, Tenoch Huerta play Namor, the Submariner. He’s joined by Mabel Cadena as Namora and Dominique Thorne as Ironheart.
While the studio has faced some large challenges as it built out its Marvel Cinematic Universe, few (if any) were as daunting as continuing the “Black Panther” franchise after Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death in 2020. Boseman’s performance as T’Challa anchored the groundbreaking superhero movie, and he was considered by many to be one of the cornerstones of the MCU moving forward. The studio opted not to recast the role, instead focusing on the supporting cast for the upcoming sequel.
As Boseman’s shadow will inevitably loom large over any subsequent “Black Panther” movies, the cast and crew have been open about the fact that their new film makes no attempt to replace the late star, and rather believe that Boseman would see the new film as a tribute to his legacy.
“It feels spiritually and emotionally correct to do this,” Lupita Nyong’o said. “And hopefully, what I do look forward to, is getting back together and honoring what he started with us and holding his light through it. Because he left us a lot of light that we’re still going to be bathing in. I know that for sure.”
“I’m incredibly sad to lose him but I’m also incredibly motivated that I got to spend time with him,” Ryan Coogler explained. “You spend your life hearing about people like him. For this individual, who is an ancestor now, I was there for it. It’s such an incredible privilege that fills you up as much as it knocks you out. So often as Black people, we have to pick up the pieces after loss.”
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” was directed by Coogler, working from a script he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole. Many of the original cast members are reprising their roles, including Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Danai Gurira as Okoye, and Winston Duke as M’Baku, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, and Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross.
