Sometimes what haunts you most is wondering what could have been.
Avalee Elvis prides herself with being able to fix just about anything. . . except her past. Unable to put the puzzle of her life together, she pours heart and soul into making neglected places whole again. As the owner of Lowcountry Lost, Avalee spends her days in hot-pink Carhartt overalls and a tool belt reclaiming Lowcountry properties. Making them beautiful again releases the deep sigh that soothes the hurt she holds.
Avalee’s latest project takes her to tiny Somewhere, South Carolina, a long-abandoned town. She ignores its ghostly folklore but can’t miss the shock of hearing the familiar Irish brogue that materializes on the job site—the voice of the man she never wanted to see again.
Rowan Murray is a structural engineer hired by investors to oversee the redevelopment of the quaint downtown Avalee is bringing back to life. Once upon a time, he was also the man who knew Avalee better than anyone else—or so he thought. Six years ago, neither of them was prepared for the tragedy they would face together or what would happen in its wake. But as they work together to complete the rehabbing of Somewhere, their broken pieces and the pain that nearly consumed them begin to lose its grip, and both begin to wonder if it’s not too late for a restoration of their own.
From the author of the breakout Southern fiction bestseller Under the Magnolias comes a story of loss and abandonment, forgiveness, and the beauty of undying love.

Hi T.I.! Welcome to the blog! I’m so delighted to have you here!
T.I.: Netflix. I’m hooked on documentaries, more specifically true crime. I’m also a little obsessed with Bridgerton!
Carrie: ooo i love true crime documentaries!
T.I.: I guess Coke, but Diet Dr. Pepper is the king of the soft drink world in my opinion!
Carrie: that’s my SIL’s fave too 🙂
T.I.: I live next door to the Atlantic ocean, so, of course, ocean. The mountains are okay but I’m a little scared of heights!
Carrie: that’s why you need to start with ‘smaller’ mountains like the Smokies or the Blue Ridge Mtns 😉 lol
T.I.: Honey, you can’t have one without the other! Tomato basil with a club sandwich for dipping. Yes please!
Carrie: ohhhhh I’ve never tried dipping a club sandwich in tomato soup. That’s definitely going on my ‘try list’!
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
T.I.: People watching. No, it’s not stalking! Human nature intrigues me, and so I think I have stellar people watching skills.
Carrie: which must be part of the reason your characters are always so lifelike!
Q: Tell me some good books you’ve read recently.
T.I.: If I’m not writing I’m definitely reading, so this list could get out of hand, but I will try to show some restraint. I consider myself a diverse reader, so my book list is quite eclectic. The Women by Kristin Hannah. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross. The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. The Vanishing of Castle Moreau by Jaime Jo Wright. The Roads We Follow by Nicole Deese. I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here!
Carrie: I’ve read – and loved – those last two as well!
Q: If I sneaked a peek in your purse right now (which I would never do, I promise!), what would it tell me about you?
T.I.: That I have an obsession with pens and lip balm. Pens, because I need to always be able to write a scene down at any given moment and lip balm because well, lip balm, and I like options!
Carrie: lol love it!
Q: Were there any songs that inspired you as you wrote Lowcountry Lost?
T.I.: I do entire playlists for each book. Lowcountry Lost has two because Avalee has a library dance party, so I included it too.

Carrie: the library dance party was one of my fave scenes!!!
Q: Some authors like to hide little things in their stories. Is there anything you have hidden in Lowcountry Lost?
T.I.: I absolutely LOVE sneaking in Easter eggs throughout each of my books. It’s always little hints about my other books. It’s fun when someone points them out.
Carrie: i think I actually caught one this time around 😀
Q: What is one of your favorite quotes from Lowcountry Lost & why do you love it?
T.I.: “Can a person be a ghost town? I believed so for a very long time. Similar to an abandoned town, I felt like everyone and everything abandoned me but the trauma, the grief that it produced, and the silence that followed.” Avalee’s restoration story parallels the restoration project of the ghost town she is working on. I think readers will be cheering her on. Even in the hurt of this story, joy will be found.
Carrie: I loved this aspect of the story so much!
Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
T.I.: I am working on my next book, South of Somewhere, about a young woman finding herself hitting rock bottom while her mistakes topple on top of her. This will be a redemption story like none I’ve written before. It should be out Spring 2026!
