Julio Foolio‘s murder suspect, 18-year-old Sean Gathright, was allegedly involved in a previous attempt on the rapper’s life in October 2023.
According to local news outlet News4Jax, police found Gathright with shell casings from a gun related to the October attack which saw Foolio shot in the foot.
Gathright was arrested as part of the investigation into Foolio’s murder during a traffic stop where cops found a 9mm pistol, a rifle and nine spent cartridge casings from the larger gun.
The police claim the casings match those found in two previous shootings – a homicide from May this year and the October 2023 shooting of Foolio.
When raiding Gathright’s house, police also found what is known as a brass catcher, a device used to prevent shell casings from being left where they are fired.
Gathright is being pointed to as the shooter in the killing, while several people have also been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder.
Isaiah Chance, his girlfriend Alicia Andrews, and Rashad Murphy have been arrested, while Davion Murray is also wanted by the police.
Police have claimed that all five suspects traveled from Jacksonville to Tampa to kill Foolio and followed him around the city as he was celebrating his 26th birthday.
Foolio was shot and killed in a car in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn on June 23 while two other passengers were injured in the attack but survived the shooting.
Yungeen Ace had previously been accused in an anonymous online video of being involved in the murder but he denied having anything to do with it, and the police confirmed they were not actively investigating whether he had put a bounty on Foolio’s head.
Julio Foolio and Yungeen Ace, as well as their respective crews KTA and ATK, had been feuding for years after Julio’s cousin was shot and killed in 2017, with Ace later hit in a retaliatory attack. The police have said they believe Foolio was killed as part of a war between the two gangs.
Before the October 2023 attack, Foolio had already survived two previous shooting incidents in 2020 and 2021.
