It’s all she has.
After Jennifer Lopez, 55, filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, 52, on Aug. 20, she is “doing as well as she can,” a source told People in a story published on Monday.
“It’s been incredibly difficult for her that Ben chose to pull away from their marriage and move on with his life, with his life, leaving her behind,” the insider added.
The source said the “All I Have” singer didn’t want a divorce. “She wanted to figure things out. They love each other. Jennifer is not the type to just give up. It’s been almost torture for her to wait around.”
After filing for divorce, Lopez “seems relieved,” the source continued.
“Her family and friends agree that it was the right decision. She’s surrounded by a lot of love and support. She’ll be fine. She’s strong and always comes out on top,” the source shared.
Lopez filed for divorce on the second anniversary of the couple’s Georgia wedding ceremony after months of rumors that she and Affleck were on the rocks.
The “Jenny from the Block” singer cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for her split from Affleck after two years of marriage.
That choice was allegedly intentional.
“Jennifer said she was tired of being humiliated by Ben and she waited until the two-year anniversary because she wanted it to sting,” an insider alleged to Daily Mail.
“But it did not sting him,” the insider claimed. “He’s been done for a long time and deep down she knows this. He let her have this so that she wouldn’t look like the villain.”
Another source alleged to Us Weekly: “The timing of the divorce was a big f–k you to Ben.”
Lopez listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024, meaning they weren’t a couple for nearly four months before she filed.
According to TMZ, the former couple did not have a prenup.
“Bennifer” first got together in 2002 but ended their engagement in 2004.
They went on to marry and start families with other partners. Affleck has kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, 52, who he split from in 2015 after 10 years of marriage. Lopez is mom to 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
In 2021, Affleck and Lopez rekindled their romance and tied the knot at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas in July 2022. They went on to hold a second and more extravagant wedding ceremony at Affleck’s home in Riceboro, Georgia, on Aug. 20, 2022.
Affleck reportedly no longer has a relationship with Lopez’s children following their breakup.
A source told People Sunday that the Oscar winner “has not been in touch” with Lopez’s twins.
“The fact that he has not seen her kids in a long time, it’s like he left,” the insider said, adding that when they were together, “[Jennifer] went out there and told the world what a great dad he was.”
Post-divorce filing, Affleck and Lopez have the awkward task of promoting their movie, “Unstoppable,” for which Affleck is a producer, and Lopez is a co-star.
Sources told People that Lopez will attend the “Unstoppable” premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. Affleck will be absent from the red carpet, but his longtime best friend, Matt Damon, who also produced the movie, will reportedly join Lopez.
