Impeaching President Trump For A Second Time

Congress is calling for either the impeachment or invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) is calling for President Trump’s impeachment as early as Monday, January 11 unless he resigns voluntarily immediately, which is highly unlikely that he will. Other Democratic lawmakers are also calling for Trump’s resignation or him facing impeachment next week, after the inexcusable incitement of violence caused by his supporters on Capitol Hill Wednesday, January 6.

According to the New York Times, Pelosi also pressured the Pentagon to prevent Trump from utilizing the military to retaliate.

Abandoning President Trump

Several members of Trump’s cabinet joined the exodus and resigned due to the violent protests that Trump caused; including Elaine Chao, Betsy DeVoss, Hope Hicks, etc. More are expected to follow suit.

The Permanent Removal of President Trump from The White House

CNN Politics reports that House Democrats are wasting no time calling for a second attempt to propose articles of impeachment against President Trump next week before his term ends January 20. Trump admitted in a video that he will not be attending Biden’s inauguration. Trump has clearly demonstrated after the rampage hit the Capitol—that he is unfit for office and cannot continue to resume his duties as President of the United States.

The attack on the Capitol protesting President-elect Biden’s win resulted in five people dead and one woman was shot and killed by police.

The first attempt in 2020 failed over the Russian Collusion and Obstruction case. This time, there’s more momentum for the Democrats to take action because Trump caused the riots at the Capitol. Pelosi did not commit to an impeachment vote on Friday in her statement which followed a Democratic caucus call earlier that afternoon. She insisted the House would “preserve every option,” including legislation to establish a commission under the 25th Amendment that could recommend Trump’s removal in addition to impeachment.

Pelosi issued this statement: “It is the hope of Members that the President will immediately resign. But if he does not, I have instructed the Rules Committee to be prepared to move forward with Congressman Jamie Raskin’s 25th Amendment legislation and a motion for impeachment,” Pelosi said. “Accordingly, the House will preserve every option — including the 25th Amendment, a motion to impeach or a privileged resolution for impeachment.”

Trump Banned by Social Media

The Guardian stated that social media platforms have long let Trump’s propaganda posts stand until it was too late that the violence at the Capitol erupted. Twitter has permanently banned Trump’s Twitter account and Facebook originally suspended his account until Inauguration Day but now has banned him indefinitely.
