“High Road” is a song that helps you find your inner peace. From the soft acoustics and hard bass drum to the cursive/muffled vocals, Orlando Hotopf finds a way to captivate listeners with his signature sound. The guitar strummings and light piano melody open the song for the listeners to destress themselves from the outside world. The drums and cymbals keep the steady and lively feeling like one’s heartbeat as they hike a long, strenuous path to their destination.
Hotopf said High Road is about his nostalgia for his early 20s. “The endless nights and countless bad decisions (which I don’t regret) I made whilst searching for something I couldn’t quite find,” he said on SubmitHub. It truly shows in his song, especially through lyrics like these:
“And we were out for days
Living alone like we did when we were
And you’re so ride or die in your ways
Always there looking down from above me,
“High Road” is easy to listen to while studying, working, or reading. It’s a great sync placement for a feel-good indie movie or a scene showcasing healing and inner peace.
