Harnaaz Sandhu of India won the Miss Universe 2021 pageant. The competition and ceremony were in the resort city of Eilat, Israel. The event was hosted by Steve Harvey.
Sandhu had some eloquent words for the youth around the world, urging them to believe in themselves and continue to pursue their dreams.
The 80-woman competition was narrowed down to three on Sunday: Sandhu, Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa.
This year’s competition is the second one to occur during the global pandemic. Only fully vaccinated people could attend or participate in the pageant.
Israel is one of the first countries to roll out vaccine measures for its population. By last May, the country had achieved a high vaccination rate, making it a safe location to host this year’s Miss Universe pageant.
