The Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) invites artists to submit work related to H2O:A Deep Dive. The exhibition will take place at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and online at RNACexhibitions.com from June 30- August 7, 2022.
Water / Ice / Steam — the 3 states of matter exhibited at the H2O exhibition, all 3 states are easily observable in daily lives. Used by every living cell on earth, acting as the necessary transport for all vital functions of living beings. We observe the solid ice of winter, evaporation from summer’s heat returning as rainstorms and cold fall frosts. The water flows as life, and it is reflected via arts, religions, sciences, and economies. Water, by its simplest definition, is life. Every living thing needs water to survive. H2O is important. The sustaining water is important. The water cycle is mayor. And, water is beautiful, aesthetic form, very arty, it is so essential for human life and ever so artist’s inspiration. As for so many over-consuming memories from our childhood, we tend to attempt to recreate the quiet tranquility of water and nature. Water ever so sinking and floating, it is still and peaceful.
The exhibit “H2O: A Deep Dive” of The Rocky Neck Art Colony explores how we know water from the artistic point of view. Rocky Neck asks for artists to „probe the subject of water and engage viewers to think about and appreciate the importance of it in our world.“ All the water views are welcome, artists are encouraged to explore the theme from every angle, in all mediums.
The Rocky Neck Art Colony is one of the oldest working art colonies in the country and has been luring artists to its picturesque shores for more than 150 years.
