Trey Anastasio, one of the most famous faces to ‘rock out’ at the iconic Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York and the former frontman of the 90s band Phish raised over $1 million for a new drug treatment facility.

The jam band rock hero performed solo while streaming live inside the empty Beacon Theater while passing the hat collecting donations online.

The residency called, ‘The Beacon Jams’ helped raise funds for the Dividend Sky Fund, a new extension of Phish’s pre-existing foundation Waterwheel Foundation. The event included guest musicians joining Anastasio on old classic rock variations and some songs from Anastasio’s album, “The Lonely Trip” based on his experience surrounding quarantine during the pandemic which he recorded in isolation from his Upper West Side apartment in New York. He engaged with fans via chat and streaming live without an audience. His twenty-something daughter Eliza aided him in the tech department. There are some home-based videos on Anastasio’s Instagram page.

According to Today News Post, Anastasio admits he recovered from drug addiction and was once arrested in 2006 in upstate New York near Vermont. A representative spoke to Vanity Fair about his experience and said that incident saved his life and motivated him to raise funds for the new drug treatment center.

Congratulations Trey Anastasio for your efforts in raising $1 million for the new drug treatment center!
