Flavor Flav has come to the aid of an Olympic athlete after they admitted they were struggling to pay their rent.
Veronica Fraley, who is competing in the discus throw on Friday (August 2) and attends Vanderbilt University, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday (August 1) to share her predicament.
“I compete in the Olympic Games TOMORROW and can’t even pay my rent,” she wrote. “my school only sent about 75% of my rent while they pay football players (who haven’t won anything) enough to buy new cars and houses.”
The Public Enemy legend became an American hero for this American hero, responding: “I gotchu,,, DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry bout it TOMORROW,,, and imma be rooting for ya tomorrow LETZ GO,!!!”
Shortly after, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian offered to split the cost with Flav.
“THANK YOU & @FlavorFlav SO MUCH,” Fraley replied. “this makes every difference in the WORLD & I hope to represent team USA well this week.”
It appears both men kept their word as the 24-year-old Olympian later wrote: “ITS MEET DAY. Also paid my rent this morning [crying face emoji] [praying hands emoji] [love hearts emoji].”

Flavor Flav has been a prominent presence at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, recently earning praise from First Lady Jill Biden for his support of the USA men’s and women’s water polo teams.
The Hip Hop pioneer was named the teams’ official hypeman last month after signing a multi-year partnership with the organization that also sees him make financial contributions to the women’s water polo Olympic team.
“Supporting USA Water Polo teams is an honor,” Flav said in a statement. “As a girl dad and a champion of all sports, I’m excited to bring my energy and voice to this incredible sport.
“Niche sports often don’t get the spotlight they deserve, but they are packed with incredible talent and heart. Together, we’re going to make some serious waves!”

Flav’s efforts found their way to First Lady Biden’s radar earlier this week as she were filmed meeting the “Bring the Noise” hitmaker at the women’s water polo Olympics contest earlier this week.
“I love all the support Women’s Water Polo is getting,,, ya boy is so appreciative that the First Lady came to the First Game . THANK YOU @flotus Dr. Jill Biden for all the support of you and your family,” Flav tweeted while sharing the clip.
