EXPO CHICAGO Returns to Navy Pier in 2022

CHICAGO, Il.-EXPO CHICAGO is making its first in-person exhibition since 2019. It includes a roster of exhibitors, programs, installations, speakers and more. The artwork on display comes from more than 140 leading galleries and 25 countries around the world.

EXPO CHICAGO is now in its ninth edition, which collaborates leading galleries with diverse cultural programming. The main event takes place from April 7-10, 2022 at the Festival Hall at Navy Pier.

According to Choose Chicago, the exhibition will feature the following:

  • IN/SITU, with dynamic large-scale sculpture, performance, video, film, virtual reality, and site-specific works installed within Navy Pier’s Festival Hall including the exposition’s first dedicated section to digital work. Outdoor installations will also be located throughout the city’s parks as part of IN/SITU Outside.
  •  /Dialogues, a series of provocative on-site conversations with leading curators, artists, and designers, including a historic discussion with founding members of AFRICOBRA, a panel addressing the rise of NFTs, a fully bilingual panel in Spanish overviewing the EXPOSURE section.
  • OVERRIDE | A Billboard Project, a public art initiative that uses digital billboards across the city to display contemporary works by emerging and established artists from Chicago and around the world.

Leaders from across the art world include:

  • Jamillah James (Manilow Senior Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago)
  • Sarah Meister (Executive Director, Aperture)
  • Charles Moore (art historian, collector, and author)
  • Hans Ulrich Obrist (Artistic Director, Serpentine Galleries, London)
  • AFRICOBRA members Gerald Williams (SAIC 1966 – 67), Jae Jarrell (SAIC 1959  – 61), Wadsworth Jarrell (SAIC 1958), Sherman Beck (Artist)

Tickets for the EXPO are now on sale. You can choose between single-day and three-day passes.
