The summer meatwave continues with a gory new EP from Buffalo horror-themed death metal dealers Morgue Terror. Dropping tomorrow on the band’s Bandcamp, a full stream of Violent and Murderous Thoughts can be found below.
Newly expanded with drummer Dustin Klimek (former Full of Hell), Morgue Terror’s sophomore EP unleashes a fully realized vision and deadly sound. Violent and Murderous Thoughts rampages with calculated intent, lacing OSDM death metal with razor-sharp riffs and haunted dissonance. It might be tempting to dismiss an EP inspired by the cults and serial killers as meat-and-potatoes death metal, but Morgue Terror’s dedication to groove and inventive songwriting results in something brutally and addictively fun.
“Bludgeoned & Brutalized” kicks off with a bruising groove punctuated by swampy howls from vocalist Steve Lipka, only to burst into a head-banging riff that’s guaranteed to break necks. In contrast, “Neanderthal” featuring Chaney Crabb of Entheos juxtaposes Crabb and Klimek’s dueling vocal styles for a blistering race to the death. Short but definitely not sweet, Violent and Murderous Thoughts is gory summer fun that’s not to be missed.
Violent and Murderous Thoughts will be released on Friday, August 23rd. Stream the full EP below and pre-order on Morgue Terror’s Bandcamp.
