Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine: Lana – she is a mafia princess and the sister of Felix from the Skull & Serpent society (he was also in the previous book in this series). Lana is now attending Spine Ridge University. She is the perfect daughter and sister during the day, attending school and hanging out with friends. However, at night she tracks down men who prey on girls and women. She makes them pay for their crimes in a bloody and permanent way.
The Heroes: Kai, Nathan and Milo – They belong to the Phantom society and live in the best house on campus. They are calculating and dangerous men, though they owe money to someone powerful.
Nathan – he takes care of his sister; he has nightmares about the day the Feds came to take everything away. He grew up wealthy until his parents were put in jail for financial crimes and it was all gone in an instant. He is a sadist.
Kai – he lost one of his eyes and sees it as a disfigurement. He doesn’t think a woman like Lana would ever want him. He is the president of the Phantom society.
Milo – he is a masochist, and he swings both ways. He is very submissive and somewhat unsure of himself, not nearly as arrogant as Nathan or Kai.
The Story: One night after Lana tracks down a pedophile and kills him in his home, there is a break in and three guys in skull masks arrive. She hides in the dark while they talk about the fact that they were planning to do what she did. They are not too happy to find out that someone else got in their way. When Lana makes a noise, they give chase, but she escapes on her motorcycle leaving one of her hair ribbons behind. They plan to find her and make sure she doesn’t give away anything about them and that she doesn’t get in their way again.
The guys were deviant and depraved. They immediately want Lana and basically blackmail her into sexual situations. There is BDSM, spanking, knife play, blood play, MM action, stalker behavior and much more. There are plenty of super steamy scenes. I didn’t read the first two books in this series, so I was not quite sure what the societies were at Spine Ridge University. Though other than that, I didn’t think I missed anything from starting with this book. Amazon does have it as a standalone, so that was good. I sometimes hate the way many reverse harem books are 3 or 4 book series.
I occasionally find that a story tries too hard to be ultra violent and the characters are just a bit too bloodthirsty and/or too sexually deviant that it almost becomes a parody of what the story is trying to be. This was the case in this book. The characters are just trying too hard to be bad, criminal and sexually diverse that it is beyond the bounds of being believable. There is no way they would be able to commit so many murders without being caught, they don’t seem to take any countermeasures to keep from being caught, they spend too much time at the crime scenes and are just a bit too careless. The fact that they take time during a murder to get busy doesn’t help either. I think the author should have spent more time on the plot holes and less time on trying to have the characters being sexually freaky in every way possible. Also, I didn’t get why the guys were supposed to be so bad but were afraid of whomever Nathan owes money to. Why not just torture and/or kill them?
This audiobook was told in Multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Corvin King and Desiree Ketchum. Corvin King has a deep, sexy voice and is great at dirty talk. I really liked him; he sounded so natural and was good at using different voices for different characters. I will definitely be looking for other books he has narrated. Desiree was pretty good also. She has a nice voice and has a great tone and tempo. Her male voice isn’t bad either.
