EUPHORIA: MORE THAN JUST A MOVIE?

Welcome to the stone ages, where there’s nothing like internet, Hiphop or Euphoria. We know nothing about HBO max here, we do not sit around and wait for episodes every week, we do not obsess about names like Rue or Cassie, we do not care about girl drama, we are different, we are liars.

Bing bong!
Let’s face reality; there’s a feeling of euphoria everywhere you turn on the internet and if you still haven’t watched it, congratulations! You’re one of the few ones. So, let’s talk about the craze behind the movie. Is it rue rue? Cassie, Gia? Everyone?

Euphoria is an American drama series based on teens, it was written by Sam Levinson for HBO, originally released on the 16th of June 2019 and is currently on 3 seasons and running. Zendaya, the main character is a drug addict whose actions and inactions have led to many dramatic responses from her fellow cast and the Euphoria audience. Unlike many characters, the audience of euphoria seem to connect deeply with the cast, it’s almost like they can feel every inch of their pain and this is actually really admirable. This shows a certain level of commitment and passion for their roles which has aided a perfectly illustrated demonstration to the audience.

On the 10th of January 2022, Zendaya took to her Instagram page to comment on her recent character development following new episodes of the show.

“I know I’ve said his before, but I do want to reiterate to everyone that Euphoria is for mature audiences. This season, maybe even more than the last, is deeply emotional and deals with subject matter that can be triggering and difficult to watch. Please only watch if you feel comfortable. Take care of yourself and know that either way you are still loved and I can still feel your support.
All my love, Daya. “

Phew! How touching. Amidst all of the emotions gathered from this show, others have taken a U-turn to say that Euphoria glorified drug abuse. Many users and fans of the show have disagreed with this by stating the obvious; How can a show whose main character’s life is so unstable glorify drug abuse? Who wants to be RueRue when you can be someone whose life decision doesn’t depend on the amount of substance you put in your body?
There are a lot of reasons why many teens have been going crazy over Euphoria, what’s your take on this? Leave a comment let’s talk about it.
