Drag: The Musical Finds Full Off-Broadway Cast
Co-written by and starring RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Alaska Thunderfuck, the show will play New World Stages beginning in September.
Full casting has been revealed for Off-Broadway’s upcoming Drag: The Musical, beginning performances September 30 at New World Stages. Opening night is October 21.
Newly joining the cast are RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Luxx Noir London as Popcorn, Bre Jackson as Dixie Coxworth, and Eddie Korbich as Drunk Jerry. Remi Tuckman and Yair Keydar will share the tole of Brendan Hutchinson.
They join the previously announced Alaska Thunderfuck as Kitty Galloway (through January 11, 2025), Nick Adams as Alexis Gilmore, Lagoona Bloo as Tuna Turner, Jan Sport as Savannah St. James, Jujubee as The Tigress, Nick Laughlin as Puss Puss Dubois, J. Elaine Marcos as Gloria Schmidt and Rita Laritz, and Joey McIntyre as Tom Hutchinson (through November 24).
The ensemble will include Cameron Mitchell Bell, Brandon Burks, Nicholas Kraft, Christine Shepard, and Kodiak Thompson. Casting is by Ryan Bernard Tymensky of RBT Casting.
Alaska wrote the musical alongside collaborators Tomas Costanza and Ashley Gordon. The show follows two rival drag bars, each fighting for survival while dealing with financial troubles.
The show made its world premiere at the Bourbon Room in 2022, and played an encore run there earlier this year. Check out highlights from the 2022 premiere here, and listen to the cast recording here.
The production features scenic design by Jason Sherwood, costume design by Marco Marco, lighting design by Adam Honore, sound design by Drew Levy, wig design by Domino Couture, makeup design by Aurora Sexton, and projection design by Aaron Rhyne. KGM Theatrical is general manager. Jennifer Rogers will be production stage manager, and Matthew Hermann will be assistant stage manager.
Andrew Orbison will lead a four-piece band from the keyboard, including Ariel Bellvalaire on guitar, Tyler Connaghan on guitar, and Jasmine Guevara on drums.
The producing team for the Off-Broadway bow includes Costanza, Scott Prisand, Matthew Weaver, Hillary Weaver, Janet Billing Rich, Paolo & Jodie Coppola, Aron & Gabe Alves-Tomko, Concord Theatricals, Producer Entertainment Group, David Charpentier, Jacob Slane, Jackie Huba, Nicholas Kaiser, Rob Kolson, Sarina Neer, and Liesl Wilke.
