“Don’t Let Love Down” (Rob Fusari) – Music Video Review

Source: youtube.com

Rob Fusari is the producer behind some of the biggest hits over the last couple decades. He’s gotten the opportunity to work with Will Smith, Destiny’s Child and a host of other mainstream and indie artist. He is most famous for being Lady Gaga’s first producer, helping her discover her unique image and music.

After developing so many artists, Fusari realized that he is also an artist himself. He came up with a song one day and decided to lay a raw vocal. Everyone that worked in the studio heard it and they encouraged him to get onstage and perform himself. He now goes by 8-bit as a solo performer and a band member of Cary Nokey. He still produces music, had the opportunity to open up for Macy Gray and RuPaul Drag Race.

In 2007 and 2008 Fusari was collaborating with Lady Gaga to create a demo for her first album. They wrote and recorded about 20 songs that were rock n’ roll and very much inspired by the Beatles.  Fusari thought it would be a tough time marketing Lady Gaga as a rocker because there are so few female voices that appear on rock radio. As a result, their collaboration changed from rock to pop music and some pop/rock. Her first album, The Fame, took the music industry by storm-it became a very popular record extremely quickly. In my opinion they created a top 10 pop album of all time.

“Don’t Let Love Down” is one of the first songs they recorded together. In 2016, Fusari released the song and created a music video for it.

The song is about how love should be the basis of interpersonal relationships; it promotes the idea that people should love themselves for who they are.  In the video, around the second verse, you will see the woman he is singing to use red nail polish to cover Barbie dolls; there is also a skull on the table. These elements indicate that we all have mortality and we should not waste our time on people who bring us down, and instead spend it with those that will make your life better.
