Love to Love You, Donna Summer is a new HBO documentary on the life and career of the late Queen of Disco. The film includes her original music and memories of her family, friends and musical collaborators. It was directed by Roger Ross Williams and Summer’s daughter Brooklyn Sudano.
The project explores the singer’s experience in the avant-garde music scene of Germany to various locations in New York. It features photographs and behind the scene footage, most of which shot by Summer herself.
She is most known for her hits “Last Dance,” “She Works Hard for the Money,” and “I Feel Love.” Summer was the first Black female artists to have a video on MTV. In 2013, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Love to Love You, Donna Summer will premiere Saturday, May 20th on HBO and HBO Max.
