Disney made a big splash at the box office in 2019 by releasing several high-grossing films.
According to CNN, the company’s international box office numbers reached $41 billion, and over $11 billion in the United States.
Disney’s success indicates that entertainment fans still enjoy going to the theaters to see their favorite characters on the big screen, even though there are increasingly more opportunities to do so with the various streaming services that are available for smart TVs and mobile devices.
The company’s highest-grossing films were “Frozen 2”, “Avengers: Endgame” and “The Lion King”. Disney released other successful films like “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and “Aladdin”.
Due to production cost it may be difficult for Disney to exceed its business numbers in 2020; however, they are still likely to make more billion dollar films with potential titles like Marvel’s “Black Widow” and “Eternals”, “Jungle Cruise” and a highly anticipated release of a live-action version of “Mulan”.
Disney has raised the bar for production studios in the US. The success at the box office in conjunction with its new Disney+ app will bring a lot of contemporary and classic content to new and longtime fans.
