David Henry Hwang Is Writing a Musical Based on Large Hadron Collider Doc Particle Fever
The project reportedly includes songs by Bear McCreary and Zoe Sarnak.
David Henry Hwang is at work on a musicalization of the 2013 documentary Particle Fever, per a report in The New York Times. The outlet reports that the project features a score by Bear McCreary and Zoe Sarnak (McCreary actually shared the news in July at San Diego ComicCon).
The documentary tracks the inaugural experiments of Switzerland’s Large Hadron Collider, and the search for confirmation of the Higgs boson, an energy particle vital to understanding the creation of our universe (spoiler alert: the scientists achieved exactly that).
New York Times says the project is still in very early stages, though a private in-development reading of the material was given in NYC in June. Leigh Silverman is currently directing, with producers Megan Kingery and Annie Roney leading the project. Roney distributed the original documentary via her company ROCO Films.
