Vaughn George Unison is an amazing autodidactic musician from the UK that I already mentioned in Arts Tribune once. Vaughn poses an amazing ability, a marvelous skill: he learned to play music through informal methods, such as visuals, concert and videos, and of course his own ear. We are talking about “perfect auditory processing abilities, who were”, in several scientific experiments, “assessed using a speech-in-noise task, a passive pitch oddball task done while recording electrical brain and a melodic tonal violation task, done both actively and passively while recording electrical brain activity.” It is all about listening and how someone hears and replicate.
In between Vaughn’s long-term exploration of the UK synth pop and electronic music, and extensive online piano classes, there are qualities that need to mentioned. Among everything else, Vaughn has fantastic vocal abilities, which he often shows in the classes to his students on Depeche Mode old classics. Recently, Vaughn released his new album “Dark Society” with “Sleeping Dogs” darkly piano driven classic and “Bottle” Electrogenetic remix by Gareth Jones, earlier this year. And yet, this a small label, and it is all very challenging, where I believe it is possible to measure how innovative music industries are based on lyrical content. Well, yes, lyrics are also very important aspect of this album, while the ‘mainstream’ and the ‘underground’ in this album may be more twisted than people sometimes like to believe.
The album “ Dark Society” is indeed, crowned with an exclusive collaboration, British legendary musician and producer Gareth Jones, this long anticipated album is recently released in 2022 on vinyl, double CD, digital and streaming. Written and Produced by Vaughty (Vaughn George), mixed by Andy Marlow, mastered by Kevin Paul, with featuring remixes by Gareth Jones, Alex FX is now online. An official remix of Vaughty’s “Scarred Inside” is remixed by Technomadic, now on the official site of London AggroMonkey Records. Official video for “Scarred Inside” is from the “Dark Society Album” by Vaughty. No matter if the dance music received considerably more attention and critical recognition from the specialized music press in the UK, there are roots in Vaughn’s music, a music genre that travelled over the Atlantic, a synth pop and also post punk pioneers Depeche Mode. Vaughn is cultivating on his YouTube Channel in deep exploration of synth pop artists such as Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Gary Newman etc…for years now, he released Love and Industry debut in 2015, and collaborated with vocalists, Cherry Ballard, Jenny Palmer and Kairit Saarameal. I truly enjoyed his exclusive YouTube interviews with Gareth Jones or English photographer Brian Griffin, also other music producers. You can check it out at www.vaughngeorge.com/ where you can actually buy Gareth Jones’ art work or an exclusive and original Brian Griffins’ photography.
