Sometimes when an artist is developing something creative, he or she does not always have to re-invent the wheel. There are certain principals and techniques that exist within creative disciplines that can be considered a best strategy for a particular medium. In the case of Netflix, one of their newest shows to be streamed does exactly that. The show is called Alice in Borderland and it is a live-action version of a Japanese manga series.
The plot is a winner, but it is something audiences have seen before. The major plot line is that the protagonist is a game enthusiast who find himself trapped within the games where he and others will physically have to complete objectives against adversaries that are larger than life. There have been many shows that have adopted this plot line and made it successful. In the early 90s, Nintendo had a cartoon show (that was not based on manga) that featured a protagonist that had the Nintendo hand controller and gun controller as weapons as he battled the enemies in a variety of games in order for him to get back to the real world.
Jumanji, from the original film starring Robin Williams to the most recent releases with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart, has the same plot line and the franchise continues to deliver entertaining and adventure-filled films. There are many other examples of film and TV shows that have used this plot line, and the great thing about it is that they are usually very well received by audiences. From the start, it is important to note that Alice in Borderland is using a plot line with a successful track record, which increases the possibility of gaining a big audience to subscribe and stream this show on Netflix.
