The LCBO, which is the biggest alcohol buyer in the world, has pulled every last bottle of American booze from its shelves. That’s billions of dollars in lost sales for U.S. alcohol producers. And guess what? The Americans are absolutely losing it over this move. The governor of Kentucky? Freaking out. Mitch McConnell? Probably pulling his hair out right now. Why? Because Kentucky is home to bourbon, and Ontario, where the LCBO operates, is one of their biggest customers. This is what we call hitting them where it hurts.

And for those who don’t know, potash is a huge deal because it’s the key ingredient in fertilizer. Right now, 87% of Canada’s potash goes straight to the U.S. without any issues. But if Canada decides to slam the brakes on those exports, American farmers are going to be in a world of pain. They could try to get potash from elsewhere, sure, but good luck moving it up the Mississippi River when all of it has to come from Canada. So while Trump is busy slapping tariffs on Canada’s dairy farmers, Canada’s hitting back by threatening U.S. agriculture at its core.
