The British Film Awards (BAFTA) has released its official list of nominees for the upcoming BAFTA 2021 award ceremony. Many analysts are expecting The White Tiger to win in several categories including Adarsh Gourav for Best Leading Actor and Ramin Bahrani for Adapted Screenplay. The BAFTAs will not have a live audience this year due to Covid-19, but there will be a virtual event broadcasting from Royal Albert Hall in London.
The White Tiger follows the story of Balram Halwai (played by Adarsh Gourav) who uses entrepreneurship as a way of changing his life. The film made its debut on Netflix on Jan. 22.
It will be interesting to see who wins the Best Actor category as there are several standout performances nominated at this year’s event including the late Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Riz Ahmed for Sound of Metal, Anthony Hopkins for The Father, Mads Mikkelsen for Another Round and Tahar Rahim for The Mauritanian.
