“I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, which is a form of breast cancer,” she went on. “It is very, very, very early. It’s technically stage zero.”
The mom-of-two then admitted that she previously believed that if she were to be diagnosed with cancer, she would “suffer in silence” and only tell a “small group” of friends and family until after she’d completed treatment.
“The only reason I caught this cancer when it is still stage zero is because the day I got my text message that my yearly mammogram had come up, I made the appointment,” Danielle went on. “It would be so easy to say: ‘I don’t have time for that, I went to my mammogram last year, I was fine last year, I don’t need to go to again, what are the chances? It’s going to be fine.'”
Will and Rider then assured Danielle that they would accommodate everything she needed going forward. Will said: “Whatever you need, we’re here. And if you need to miss something or if you need to postpone stuff, it’s the last thing you need to worry about.”
Wishing Danielle a speedy recovery!
