Some of the most popular entertainers in music are performing concerts with a special cause: awareness of climate change and the availability of vaccines to fight COVID-19. These concerts are popping up from around the world including Billie Eilish in New York, BTS in Seoul and Elton John in Paris. They’re uniting their talents for Global Citizen Live on Saturday, a day of music in many different places in order to spread global awareness of climate change and vaccinations.
Concerts will be taking place in London, Lagos, Rio, Sydney, Mumbai and more. The event is scheduled to coincide with the UN General Assembly. Many of the artists are planning to call for action at the upcoming G20 assembly next month and COP26 climate assembly in November.
Eilish, Coldplay and Jennifer Lopez are set to perform in New York’s Central Park. Britain’s Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are also scheduled to take the stage in New York and enlighten the fans about climate change and vaccines.
Stevie Wonder will be playing in Los Angeles. Ed Sheeran, Elton John, Black Eyed Peas and Stormzy will perform in Paris.
There will also be pre-recorded performances from BTS in South Korea, Alok in Rio, Kylie Minogue in London and Andrea Bocelli in Tuscany.
“Across six continents, artists will help rally citizens in demanding that governments, major corporations and philanthropists work together to defend the planet and defeat poverty,” NGO Global Citizen said in a statement.
Global Citizen Live is brining people together through music in order to rally for a good cause. As they continue to produce these concerts and performances, it will increase engagement from the fans globally.
