Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine: Lilian – she is a witch who is being used by her coven to find out if an elite vampire named Bastian Van Der Garde is guilty of brutally killing off half of her coven. She has a gift of being able to dream someone else’s memories when she has some of their blood. So she is tasked with going through a ceremony to become one of Bastian’s servants in which they exchange blood. She will then be able to tell if he is guilty or not. Though if he is not, she will be bound to him forever.
The Hero: Night – he is the younger brother Bastian. Bastian is all about their high station in life as pure blood vampires. He hosts parties for the elite in their community and works diligently at keeping up appearances and enforcing their station in life through relationships with other elites. While Night suffers from PTSD from when he was attacked and nearly killed by a witch. He lives for debauched parties where he hunts humans to feed from and is all about the thrills.
The Story: Night is called to Bastian’s estate for one week every year where he has to sit through his brothers’ insufferable parties and keep their family name as irreproachable and in demand as Bastian requires. However, this year when he arrives at the estate, Bastian is just leaving and he tells Night to watch the female. Night finds the beautiful and submissive Lilian staying with his brother, though his brother has not yet claimed her, and Night knows from the start that he is attracted to her and will have a hard time not wanting his brother’s female.
I quite liked this vampire/witch story. Though the two main characters seemed to be pulled apart at all sides from the fact that Night hated witches for what one had done to him in the past, to the fact that Lilian was his brother’s woman, to her side where her coven hated vampires and thought that Bastian or maybe Night was the one that killed much of their coven members. Though I did like that you could feel the chemistry between them from the start.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Devon Grace. These two narrators do a terrific job on this audiobook. Troy Duran is one of my favorite male narrators. He has a deep sexy voice and sounds very natural when he narrates. You can’t tell he is reading at all. Devon Grace has a soft, feminine voice which worked perfectly for Lilian.
