This week, Billboard’s New Music Latin roundup and playlist — curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — features fresh new music from artists such as Edén Muñoz, La Doña, Justin Quiles, and more.
Camila — comprised of Mario Domm, Pablo Hurtado y Samo — released Regresa, a 10-track set that marks a comeback of sorts. The last time the Mexican trio, who had a breakthrough in the early 2000s, had released an album was five years ago. Known for their signature pop ballads, Camila holds onto their essence while also adding elements of mariachi (“Diamantes y Amaranto”) and even rock (“Incendio”).
“We have worked hard to create something truly special,” Hurtado said in a press release. “This album is not only a return to our roots, but also a leap forward to the future.”
Mexican singer-songwriter and producer Edén Muñoz released “NTP” just a few days before officially dropping his next album, Edén. His new release puts his experimental tendencies at the forefront, fusing norteña with other música mexicana subgenres. Meanwhile, Puerto Rican hitmaker Justin Quiles dropped Permanente, his first album in three years, that thrives on music that is “raw, bold, but fun,” as he puts it.
Other new releases include La Doña’s “Confesiones,” the second single from her upcoming set, Los Altos de la Soledad, due Sept. 6. Also, Jaze’s “mil procedimientos” where the Peruvian freestyle rapper fuses rap lyricism with indie and pop elements.
Last week, Grupo Frontera and Romeo Santos’ “Ángel” won the poll, bringing in more than 42% of the votes. Who should win this week? Give these new releases a spin and vote on them below.
