Bemis Center is the US artist organization that provides artists space and resources to conduct art research in order to create conceptual, material, performative, and social practices. Bemis at the moment offers artists-in-residence technical guidance, access to interns, and an established network of resources. Participants are creating networks, collaborating, and sharing their work with fellow artists-in-residence, organizational partners, and the public. The Bemis Alumni Program offers artists extra support via Residencies, an annual Alumni Award, and Alumni Convenings. Studio and centers are located in the historic Old Market, Omaha’s arts and culture district, with a campus that accommodates a broad range of artistic activities. Selected residents will have expansive installation and production spaces, a 110,000 square foot main facility, and the Okada Sculpture & Ceramics Facility, a 9,000 square foot large-scale sculpture fabrication space and workshop. A Bemis residency also includes living area and access to an on-site research library.
Residency is open to national and international artists 21+ with professional working history. A variety of disciplines are open and it is not limited to, visual arts, media/new genre, performance, architecture, film/video, literature, interdisciplinary arts, music composition, and choreography only. Artists enrolled in an academic program during the time of the residency opportunity can not apply. Small collaborative groups are eligible to apply, although Bemis Center is only able to accommodate two members of a collaborative group to attend the residency and living area. Bemis welcomes international artists to apply.

Residencies at Bemis Omaha are independent, self-directed, and process-based ,and artists are invited to participate in at least one opportunity to engage the community. Selected artists must attend a minimum of eight weeks within a residency session to be accepted.
There is a $40 USD non-refundable application fee when submitting an application through SlideRoom paid via credit card or by PayPal.

There is a prize of $1000 monthly stipend & $750 travel stipend. International artists in-residence are eligible to receive reimbursement of expenses, such as airfare, ground transportation, and meals. Selected artists are responsible for organizing travel to Omaha to attend the residency, while studio supplies or materials are not available.
Artists have required application materials such as website, phone number, email, ZIP code, artistic discipline, collaboratively, date of birth, also a brief statement about your creative and intellectual interests a description of how you anticipate using the time and space, work on current projects, research, reading, writing, etc. (500 words). Specific resources, facilities, or equipment necessary to your practice you may require while in residency, based on your interests. (100 words max). Current Resume. If you are a collaborative group, include a combined resume listing of all other members. Two references include name, email, phone number, and relationship to each reference. References will be contacted by Bemis Center during the review panel process. Letters of recommendation are not required.
