PETERBOROUGH, N.H.: Peterborough Players has announced Brendon Fox as their new artistic director. Fox will succeed interim producing artistic director Charles Morey starting at the beginning of September.
“I’m thrilled and humbled to become the next artistic director of Peterborough Players,” said Fox in a statement. “As one of the oldest summer theatres in the country, the Players has a rich history of presenting not only powerful voices from the past but also championing great works by contemporary writers. For decades, this theatre has produced high quality and eclectic productions for its community, and I’m committed to building on that to ensure its future. As someone who grew up in New England and believes in the importance of theatre for everyone, I’m excited to collaborate with the amazing staff and board of Peterborough Players to carry forward the vision of its founder, Edith Bond Sterns.”
Raised in Connecticut, Fox has directed with Prague Shakespeare Company, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Long Wharf Theatre, Cleveland Playhouse, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, among others. He has taught and directed students at The Juilliard School, Prague Shakespeare Company, The University of Virginia, The University of Evansville, University of Northern Colorado, University of North Carolina, The Old Globe/University of San Diego Professional Actor Training Program, and the Academy of Classical Acting. He holds in MFA in directing from UCLA.
Founded in 1933, Peterborough Players seeks to enrich the human experience by producing live professional theatre, developing and training theatre artists, and offering New Hampshire a wide variety of performing arts events. As of 2022, the theatre had a budget of approximately $1.5 million.
