
Deacon Eddie Shed, a 39-year-old father and head of security at Empowerment Ministries Christian Center in Gulfport, Mississippi, was tragically killed while protecting others during a church-sponsored Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The event, held at Jack and Florence Goldin Sportsplex, turned violent following a child custody dispute involving 24-year-old Tyran Deion Gable.
According to police reports, Gable engaged in a heated argument with the mother of his child, which escalated when he allegedly opened fire. Deacon Shed intervened to shield children and others nearby, displaying selfless courage. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Gable was apprehended and has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault. He was denied bond for the murder charge, with a $250,000 bond set for the assault charge. People.com
