So wicked.
Ariana Grande fiercely defended her relationship with boyfriend Ethan Slater in a new interview with Vanity Fair.
The 31-year-old singer began dating Slater, 32, last year after they met on set of the upcoming film adaptation of “Wicked” (set to hit theaters in November) around the time that they split from their respective spouses.
“The most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of it,” Grande said, seemingly referring to the rumors that she cheated on her ex-husband, Dalton Gomez, with her now-boyfriend.
“That was definitely a tough ride,” she added.
The “Into You” singer went on to praise Slater, saying, “There couldn’t be a less accurate depiction of a human being than the one that the tabloids spread about him.”
Grande told Vanity Fair she “will never go into certain details” about the specific allegations regarding her and Slater’s romance, instead choosing to share her favorite qualities of her man.
“No one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about,” she said about Slater.
“There is no one on this earth with a better heart, and that is something that no bulls–t tabloid can rewrite in real life,” she added.
News broke in July 2023 that Grande and Slater were dating — the same month that Grande split from Gomez, 29, after two years of marriage.
Slater divorced his wife, Lilly Jay, around the same time.
Jay, who shares a 2-year-old son named Ezra with Slater, later slammed the Broadway star and his girlfriend. She told Page Six her family was “collateral damage” and called Grande “not a girl’s girl.”
Grande, who finalized her divorce from Gomez earlier this year, addressed having her personal life be tabloid fodder in her Vanity Fair interview.
“It definitely doesn’t get any easier, seeing some of the negativity that was birthed by disreputable tabloids,” she said. “Of course, I went through a lot of life changes during the filming of this movie. A lot of people that were working on it did. We were away for two years. So, of course, I understand why it was a field day for the tabloids to sort of create something that paid their bills.”
The former “Victorious” star — who previously dated Pete Davidson and the late Mac Miller — also lamented over how her life in the spotlight has played out.
“The back-and-forth throughout the course of my career has been really hard to navigate mentally,” she explained. “I was this approachable, funny redhead on Nickelodeon and everyone liked me.”
“And then I had one too many hit records, and everyone decided that I was an evil diva,” she added. “And then other terrible things happened, and all of a sudden I was this hero and this victim.”
Until now, Grande refrained from doing interviews about her romance with Slater.
She did, however, slam the couple’s haters on her latest album, “Eternal Sunshine,” which came out in March.
On the lead single “Yes, And?”, Grande sings, “Your business is yours, and mine is mine. Why do you care so much whose d – – k I ride?”
