I am rounding off my blogging this week with a fantastic music video that was in severe danger of slipping the net. I stumbled on it only yesterday. The debut release by Kunixi, in collaboration with Daddy Squad, they have fashioned a thumping dance track “SXY XY XTC.” It’s a track to get hot and sweaty with on the dancefloor during the cold winter months of struggling to pay our heating bills.
Daddy Squad the solo dance-pop project of Andrew Armstrong (formerly of the duo Monarchy) has featured on the blog many times. On the other hand, it is the debut music release of first-timer Kunixi (born Kunihito Tomita), who is branching out from acting, modelling and creating. Although it seems inevitable that the music project of Kunixi would evolve, especially when considering the actor turned musician is, in fact, the life partner of Andrew Armstrong.
However, Andrew mentions they made the single “SXY XY XTC” – “just for fun.” I think it turned out rather fabulous. Seriously, I would love to hear more dance music created of dirty beats like this, if Kunixi feels inclined to release more singles. Also, I am such an uber stan for the late 80s dance music, Overall.
When considering Kunixi’s actor/model background the music video, was always going to be a striking one. The clip directed by Juan Hands duly captures the unbridled sassiness evoked in the song. With sequences of Kunixi modelling/voguing a stylish trench coat and full body harness combo, much hotter than would appear on any fashion week runway walk.
Add “SXY XY XTC” to your playlist and play it out loud as you get ready for a night out, this weekend.
