The Shakespeare classic, starring Rachel Zegler and Kit Conner, is directed by Sam Gold.
The Sam Gold-directed Broadway revival of William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet begins performances on Broadway September 26.
Playing the Circle in the Square Theatre, opening night is set for October 24, to continue through February 16, 2025. Emmy winner Kit Connor (Heartstopper) and Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler (MarÃa in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story) star in the revival, which features music by Grammy winner Jack Antonoff and movement by Tony winner Sonya Tayeh.
Press notes for the revival describe the classic tragedy as such: “The youth are fucked. Left to their own devices in their parents’ world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way.”
