I have just seen this fun challenge on That Artsy Reader Girl‘s website and thought about joining. Check out my favorite quotes from my recent reads! These lines resonated with me, either because they were thought-provoking or deeply touching. When I come across a quote I love in a physical book, I mark it with a sticky note. If I’m reading on my Kindle, I highlight it. Here are some gems that stood out to me:
- “Our hands can steal, or they can give. They can harm, or they can comfort. They can wound and kill, or they can heal and save. Which will you choose for your hands, Torin?” – River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross
- “Starling House was no longer just a house. What had begun as stone and mortar had become something more, with ribs for rafters and stone for skin. It has no heart, but it feels; it has no brain, but it dreams.” – The Starling House by Alix E. Harrow
- “There are people who can never go to Fantastica,” said Mr. Coreander, “and others who can, but who stay there forever. And there are just a few who go to fantastica and come back. Like you.” – The Neverending Story by Michael Ende
- “Life is lived forward but only understood backward. You can’t see the landscape you’re in while you’re in it.” – The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart by Holly Ringland
- “You must learn to know the difference between tales and the truth, my Liza, she would say. Fairy tales have a habit of ending too soon. They never show what happens afterwards when the prince and princess ride off the page.” – Kate Morton, The Forgotten Garden
- “For those who feel homesick for a place they’ve never been to. Those who seek even if they do not know what (or where) it is that they are seeking. Those who seek will find. Their doors have been waiting for them.” ― Erin Morgenstern, The Starless Sea
- “Here is a truth: people are very fascinated by themselves.” ― Edward Carey, Little
- “My story will be over soon. But it’s not something to be sad about. Remembering those who went ahead. Remembering those who will follow after. And someday, we will meet all those people again, out beyond the horizon” ― Hiro Arikawa, The Travelling Cat Chronicles
- “All beauty must have its imperfections, all happiness its share of sorrow.” ― Susan Kay, Phantom
- “I do not know if he loves me, and I cannot bring myself to ask because I do not want to know the answer.” ― Julia Kelly, The Last Garden in England
