Serena Williams is in The Bahamas and enjoying one enviable vacation. The 40-year-old former World no. 1 has been updating her 13.7 million Instagram followers on her latest travels, ones seeing her joined by husband Alexis Ohanian and 4-year-old daughter Alexis Ohanian Jr. The Nike face updated her account ahead of the weekend with an underwater snorkel session, one showing off her steely-strong body while in bikini bottoms and also bringing in some cute tropical fish.
Serena was seen floating around in scenic blue waters and amid a school of fish – of course, the Serena clothing founder wore flippers and a snorkel mask. Sharing a total three posts including a free-floating underwater video, the mom of one showed her “vacation” and her famous legs, with the post gaining over 178,000 likes in a day. Serena had kicked off with enviable yacht footage as she wore pink sweats – here, she was seen with friends and joking about the “power of a little sister,” joking that it’s her.
Williams, who has been busy attending premieres as her Hollywood profile gains momentum, is in The Bahamas with 38-year-old hubby Alexis, who featured in a story as he and the couple’s daughter enjoyed some snorkel time. The lush escape also brings in sister Venus Williams and Isha Price, plus Lyndrea Price for a real family vacay.
Serena, who has her little one set up with her own Instagram, has been making headlines for opening up on motherhood – especially during the pandemic, when she made the news for “side-eyeing” her kid after she coughed. As to spending all the time she can with Alexis Jr, that promise was sealed early on.
“We’re not spending a day apart until she’s eighteen,” Serena told Vogue in 2018. “Now that I’m 36 and I look at my baby, I remember that this was also one of my goals when I was little, before tennis took over, when I was still kind of a normal girl who played with dolls. Oh, my God, I loved my dolls.”
Addressing her motherhood in the realm of her glittering career, the sports superstar also stated:
“Sometimes I get really down and feel like, Man, I can’t do this,” adding: “It’s that same negative attitude I have on the court sometimes. I guess that’s just who I am. No one talks about the low moments—the pressure you feel, the incredible letdown every time you hear the baby cry. I’ve broken down I don’t know how many times. Or I’ll get angry about the crying, then sad about being angry, and then guilty, like, Why do I feel so sad when I have a beautiful baby? The emotions are insane.”
